Cycling up the Mont Sainte Odile and through vineyards. You will visit the medieval town of Riquewirh, one of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in France’ also famous for its great wine. The trip ends in Colmar with its very well preserved historical city centre and its German Gothic architecture and early Renaissance style.
Alsace produces some of the best wines in France, such as Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewürztraminer. The region also offers gourmet cuisine and has more Michelin star restaurants than any other region, so make sure you sample the delicious local dishes as well as the wine!

Arrive in Strasbourg
This city has easy rail access from Paris with the newly opened TGV line. Rail access from Frankfurt is also possible. Transfer to your Strasbourg hotel on your own and any free time is yours to explore this fantastic city. Orientation and bike set up with our local representative at your hotel. Old Strasbourg is typically cobbled walking streets, half timbered houses with carved stone porches and courtyards.

Ride the Wine Route of Alsace to Obernai
Distance 1 : 28 Miles - 45 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 305 Metres
Start your tour by riding out of Strasbourg on a well marked bicycle path which makes getting out of this city easy. You ride south to Obernai through charming small villages and the start of the wine route. Discover some of the many castles and vineyards in the surroundings.

Loop Ride to the Mount Sainte Odile

Elevation gain 1 : 710 Metres
Today is a loop tour in the countryside around Obernai including Ottrot and the Mont St Odile. Visit the Mont Saint Odile monastery, which was founded during the Merovingian periods by Saint Odile, daughter of the Duke Adalric. In the Middle Ages, the monastery was destroyed and then later rebuilt by Herrade of Landsberg.

Ride to Riquewihr

Today you will cycle to Riquewihr, a medieval town right in the heart of the Alsatian vineyards, classified among the 'Most Beautiful Villages in France'. Ride to Colmar

Ride from Riquewihr to Colmar, passing by Turckheim. Turckheim is a former fortified town. You can still see the ramparts, which are exceptionally well preserved. The village also has several half-timbered houses, typical of the region. It is a nice ride through flowered villages like Kaysersberg and your final destination, Colmar. There is a more challenging option to ride then spend the night in a charming hotel in the center of the city.

Loop Ride or Visit Colmar
Distance 1 : 25 Miles - 41 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 342 Metres
Ride a loop tour into the countryside to little charming village of Eguisheim, part of the Alsace wine route. Back to Colmar, this is home town of sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi (best known for the Statue of Liberty). The well-preserved old city centre houses several, sometimes large-scale buildings in German Gothic and early Renaissance style, as well as a number of old churches, among which the collegial Saint-Martin (13th-16th Century) is the largest and most noteworthy.

Leave Alsace
You have easy rail access from Colmar to Strasbourg, from where you can catch a train back to Paris or Frankfurt.
