This self-drive tour takes you on a journey across red rock cliffs, lush dense forests, and off-the-beaten coastal towns of Corsica, a beautiful island jutting out from the clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Corsica is famous for its mountainous area and sunny beaches lapped by blue waters, but there's a lot more to experience beyond this patch of paradise. Highlights of your self-drive escape include the popular Cap Corse and other areas including the beaches of Saint Florent in Saleccia, La Balagne, Corte, Ajaccio, Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio.
Tour departs from Bastia daily from April to October 2020.
Arrival in Bastia by flight. You will pick up the car at the airport. You will be given advices on what you can do in the stunning city in accordance with the time of your arrival. Overnight in Bastia.
After breakfast, you will drive northwards from Bastia for a trip around the Presqu’ile of Cap Corse. Your route along the coast road offers several places to stop and enjoy your first views of the Corsican landscape with its Genovese towers and little fishing ports such as Erbalunga or Centuri. Overnight in Saint Florent.
Excursion by sea to Saleccia’s beach and trip through the Adriatic desert. Spend the night in Saint Florent hôtel.
After breakfast, you ‘ll drive through the micro-region of the Agriates to La Balagne, nicknamed the ‘garden of Corsica’ to the seaside resort of L'Ile Rousse, founded by Pascal Paoli during the struggle for independence. Enjoy its relaxed pace of life, its market, and its little alleyways. Your route takes you on through the Balagne countryside to some of the most beautiful medieval stone villages with its artisans, and offers a remarkable and contrasting view of the Mediterranean and the Corsican mountains. It is recommended that you search out some local produce: wine from La Balagne, canistrelli biscuits and olive oil from an ancestral mill. Overnight in Calvi.
Visit the beautiful Calvi beach resort and the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. Stroll through the streets of the splendid citadel and admire the views over the Ligure Sea and the Balagne mountains. Overnight in Calvi.
After breakfast, depart to Corte. Visit its citadel and the very interesting Corsican Museum in the afternoon. Overnight in Corte.
After breakfast, departure for Ajaccio through Porto and Piana to admire the UNESCO site of the Calanche of Piana and have a stop in Cargese. Overnight in Ajaccio.
After breakfast, you will visit Ajaccio, Napoleon’s house and the Fesch Museum. In the afternoon, visit a Miel producer in the Maquis a producer of organic essential oils in Corsica (an English-speaking tour guide will lead you through the tour). Overnight in Ajaccio.
After breakfast, depart for Porto Vecchio through the very beautiful and characteristic Corsican villages. In the afternoon, visit Bonifacio and its citadel. Overnight in Porto Vecchio.
After breakfast, check out of your hotel. End of tour.
