This jampacked itinerary takes you to the famous cave dwellings of Sassi di Matera to the trulli houses in Alberobello and gorgeous beaches of Otranto. Your journey starts in Bari, a charming port city and the capital of Puglia. Explore its old town including the Basilica of San Nicola. From Bari, travel to another seaport town, Trani. Visit its historic landmarks including the Jewish quarter and white stone cathedral. Continue to Castel del Monte, a thirteenth century citadel and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then, head to Alberobello, a town known for its unique whitewashed stone huts with conical roofs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to the intriguing town of Matera, a city in the Basilicata region known for its historical centre, Sassi di Matera, which contains ancient cave dwellings for the Palaeolithic period. Explore the “white towns” of the region including Locorotondo and Ostuni. Discover the gorgeous Baroque buildings and cathedrals in Lecce, known as the Florence of the South. Continue to the picturesque seaside town of Otranto. Explore the town’s magnificent cathedral and the Aragonese Castle.

Arrival in Bari on your own. Meet the tour leader in your hotel in Bari, then join a walking tour in the afternoon to learn about the city’s history and its monuments. Dinner and overnight in Bari.
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel before leaving Bari by coach to reach Trani. Known as the ‘Pearl of Puglia’, the medieval town of Trani is one of the most remarkable cities of Southern Italy. Discover its art and monuments, visit the Jewish quarter and the wonderful white stone cathedral. In the afternoon, reach Castel Del Monte, one of Puglia’s most acclaimed landmarks. Visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the 13th century under Roger the Norman. Your journey will continue towards Alberobello, a world-known UNESCO World Heritage Site made famous by the “Trulli”. Dinner included.
Matera will be the destination for today, an incredible UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit and learn the history of the “Sassi di Matera” (Stones of Matera), caves that are part of the historic centre of the city. Admire the Romanesque Cathedral that overlooks the city, its beautiful “Campanile” (bell tower) and enjoy the amazing view of the “Sassi”. Transfer back to Alberobello in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in the “Trullo”.
Today, leave Alberobello by coach and reach Locorotondo. Enjoy some free time to visit this small town that is part of the “white towns” of Puglia. Board the coach again and travel to Ostuni: located between the “Trulli” region and Salento. Enjoy some free time to explore. In the late afternoon, travel to Lecce in the heart of the Salento region. Dinner and overnight.
After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy a 3-hour guided visit of Lecce, visiting the old town centre, the 12th century Cathedral, the Basilica of Santa Croce and Piazza del Duomo. After the tour, travel to Otranto where you will have some time at your leisure for lunch and to discover the city of Otranto at your pace. In the early evening, reach Supersano where you will have dinner at the “Masseria le Stanzìe”. Visit this ancient farm, learning about the history and culture of Puglia. See how homemade pasta is made and visit the medieval tombs that are part of the farm. Dinner with typical meals and products from the region. Following dinner, travel back to Lecce.
The tour will end after breakfast and checking out of your hotel.
