This 11-day escorted tour starts in the capital of Rome and then to Naples, where you’ll witness breathtaking views of the city on a hilltop district. Visit the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pompeii, a once wealthy city buried under volcanic ash and is now a famous archaeological site. Continue along the stunning Sorrento Coast and cross the crystal-clear waters to the island of Capri. You may join an exciting excursion to the Blue Grotto when the weather is fair. Return to Naples and board a ferry to Palermo, the magnificent capital of Sicily. Enjoy a tour to Monreale to see the town’s splendid Norman architecture, explore the beautiful villages of Erice and Saline, and depart for Agrigento, a hilltop city known for its Greek monuments and ruins at the Valley of Temples. Visit Sicily’s most fascinating towns, including Piazza Armerina, Ragusa, Noto, Siracusa and Taormina. You’ll also have an opportunity to climb Europe’s largest active volcano, Mount Etna, depending on the weather and your eagerness for thrill and adventure.

Day 1
Rome

Upon your arrival, make your own way to your hotel. Check in and enjoy your first night in Italy.

Day 2
Rome - Naples - Pompeii - Sorrento

After breakfast, depart by coach heading south stopping at Naples for a short panoramic tour climbing up to Vomero hill to enjoy beautiful views. Continuing on towards Pompeii where you’ll have lunch. After lunch, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pompeii, for a guided tour. After the visit, drive along the Sorrentine Coast, arriving in Sorrento for dinner and overnight stay.

Sorrento - Capri - Sorrento

Get ready for an exciting excursion to the island of Capri. Depending on weather and sea conditions, you will admire the dreamy Blue Grotto on a small rowboat followed by lunch at a local restaurant and free time. In the afternoon, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Sorrento - Palermo (Overnight on ferry boat)
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your hotel and some free time in the morning before departing in the afternoon the port of Naples. Board the Tirrenia/Snav ferry to Palermo.

Arrive in Palermo and transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

This morning, enjoy an excursion to Monreale, an ancient royal town famous for its almonds, olive oil and citrus fruits, as well as for its fine Norman architecture. Visit the elaborate Cathedral of Monreale followed by free time to enjoy some shopping for local delicacies and souvenirs. On your return to Palermo, join a walking tour of the city and some free time before returning to your hotel for dinner.

Palermo - Erice - Saline Della Laguna - Agrigento

This morning is an early breakfast before you depart for Erice and Saline. Enjoy a boat tour to the islands located nearby for a tour (by audio guide) of the natural reserve of the “Stagnone di Marsala”. After this wonderful experience, enjoy lunch in a restaurant by the lagoon before travelling to Agrigento to visit the ancient Greek monuments and ruins at the Valley of Temples.

Day 8
Agrigento - Piazza Armerina - Ragusa Ibla - Ragusa

Following breakfast at the hotel, travel to Piazza Armerina, a pretty and historic town nestled in the heart of Sicily. You will enter Villa Romana del Casale to admire the largest, richest and most complex Roman mosaics in the world. Afterwards, depart Ragusa and visit the enchanting historical centre “Ibla”. You’ll visit the old gate of San Giorgio, the Giardini Iblei and then walk to Piazza Pola to see the Church of San Giuseppe.

Ragusa - Noto - Siracusa - Taormina

Today, travel to Noto, a picturesque fishing town to visit the Cathedral of San Nicolò and take a walk in the town’s centre. Continue along the south coast to Siracusa, and visit “Parco Archeologico della Neapolis”, home to a vast collection of Greek and Roman ruins from all over Sicily. After the visit, cross one of the city’s bridges to the island of Ortygia, home to a wealth of Baroque churches and medieval palaces. In the late afternoon, arrive in Taormina. Dinner and overnight stay.

Taormina

After breakfast, head to Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe. If weather permits, climb to the summit (1800 m). Return to Taormina in the afternoon and spend the rest of your day at leisure.
