Explore the cultural highlights and gems of Italy and Spain during this intriguing, 16-day escorted tour from Rome to Madrid. Start your journey in the Eternal City of Rome and visit its celebrated landmarks including the Colosseum, the Vaticans Museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. From Rome, travel to Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis. Then, continue your journey to Siena, a medieval city in Tuscany known for the Palio, a horse race held twice a year. From Siena, travel to the beautiful city of Florence, the capital of Tuscany and birthplace of Renaissance. Enjoy a tour of the city including its main sights such as the Florence Cathedral, Piazza della Signoria and the Basilica of Santa Croce. Then, depart for Bologna, the capital of the Emilia-Romagna, known for its culinary traditions. Discover the city’s elegant and extensive porticoes during a walking tour. Proceed to Padua, a city in the Veneto region known for its stunning frescoes in its Scrovegni Chapel and Basilica of St. Anthony. From Padua, travel to Venice. Ranked as the most beautiful city in the world, Venice remains a top tourist destination in the world. Visit its iconic sights including St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. Travel back to the beautiful Tuscany region and visit the wine region of Val di Chiani and Montepulciano. Continue to Rome and transfer to Civitavecchia where you will board a ferry for Barcelona. Enjoy a guided tour of the city including the famous works of Antoni Gaudi. Depart by AVE high-speed train to Madrid. From Madrid, journey to Cordoba in the Andalusia region. Visit the impressive Mezquita or the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon, head to Seville, the capital of Andalusia. Enjoy a panoramic tour of the city. Then, head to Granada, known for the sprawling Alhambra, an Arab citadel and palace, and Genaralife Gardens. Cap off your adventure with a tour of Toledo, known as “The City of Three Cultures” before returning to Madrid.

After breakfast, join a tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica with your exclusive skip-the-line access. Upon arrival to the meeting point, your guide will lead you into the museums where you’ll visit one of the most important art collections of the world. Walk along the beautiful Galleries of Tapestries and Geographical Maps before admiring Raphael’s Rooms and then the amazing Sistine Chapel. After this incredible masterpiece, you will be taken by a privileged door to St. Peter’s Basilica. The tour ends in St. Peter’s Square. You'll have the remainder of the day to enjoy at your leisure.
This morning, depart Rome and travel to Assisi, ready to explore this tiny town that is surrounded by walls. Enjoy some free time to visit the Basilica of St. Francis, where you will see masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue. We will board the travel and travel on to Siena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, world-known for the Palio, the historical horse race around the shell-shaped town square Piazza del Campo. Next, you will continue to Florence, where you will check in at your hotel before enjoying dinner and a well-earned night of rest.
After breakfast, you will spend the day venturing around beautiful Florence. During your visit of the city, you will be amazed by its magnificent cathedral's dome built by Filippo Brunelleschi and the Baptistery, with its bronze doors where Michelangelo imagined the “Gates of Paradise.” In the heart of the city, you will see Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo della Signoria (also known as Palazzo Vecchio), and the Basilica of Santa Croce. Enjoy lunch in a typical Tuscan restaurant in Piazza Santa Croce. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure.
After breakfast at your hotel in Florence, depart to Bologna. Once in Bologna, you will discover the elegant city center with its “porticos”, its shopping streets. Join a walking tour which will take you from Piazza Malpighi to Piazza del Nettuno and Piazza Maggiore (Neptune square and Major square) in the heart of the city, then onto King Renzo’s Palace; Palazzo Podestà and the Basilica of San Petronio. In the afternoon, continue toward Padua. Here, you will see the Sant’Antonio Basilica, one of the most visited churches by pilgrims of the catholic world. Later in the afternoon, arrival in Venice.
After breakfast, take a private water-taxi transfer to Piazza San Marco, with your skip-the-line tickets, visit the splendid St. Mark’s Basilica. Following the tour, visit some of the most iconic places of Venice, such as the Palazzo dei Dogi and the legendary “Bridge of Sighs”. Spend the afternoon roaming along Venice’s canals at your leisure before returning to the hotel.
After breakfast, depart from Piazzale Roma, Venice and travel to Tuscany, which is world-known for its landscapes, churches, castles and delicious wines. You will proceed to Val di Chiana with a stop in Montepulciano, a medieval town rich in history and art and known for its “Nobile” wine. Enjoy lunch together today in a typical Tuscan restaurant. After lunch, you will have some free time before you board the bus and travel on to Rome.
Breakfast at the hotel and morning at your disposal. This evening, you will meet your driver at 7:30 p.m. for your transfer to Civitavecchia port (Terminal Grimaldi Lines) and board the cruise ferry to Barcelona. Departure at 11:00 p.m.
Today, you will enjoy breakfast and lunch on-board before disembarking in Barcelona at approximately at 7:00 p.m. You will then be transferred to your hotel for your overnight stay.
Following breakfast at the hotel, make your own way to the tour meeting point for your tour of Barcelona During the tour, you will see the famous architecture of architect Antoni Gaudí and enjoy seeing the city from above as you travel along the Montjuic cable cars. You will visit to the renowned Poble Espanyol, and finally a chance to lose yourself in the streets of the Gothic Quarter. You will have the afternoon at leisure to discover this city full attractive offers.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring to Sants train station and depart by AVE high-speed train to Madrid. Enjoy the journey with the comfort and speed. Upon arrival in Madrid, you will be transferred to your hotel.
Following breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the meeting point to join you tour. Departing Madrid, you will drive along La Mancha, Don Quixote’s land stopping briefly in Puerto Lapice before crossing into Andalusia to reach Cordoba. Here, join an impressive tour of its Mosque (entrance included) and other sites within the city. In the afternoon, after a short two-hour drive, you will reach Seville. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.
Following breakfast at the hotel, join a panoramic city tour visiting the exterior of the Cathedral, Santa Cruz quarter, Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de España. Afternoon at leisure before dinner at the hotel. Tonight, there is optional flamenco tour (extra cost).
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we depart and drive east past an endless landscape of olive trees to Granada. Visit the world-famous Alhambra complex (entrance included) and Generalife Gardens that have inspired several authors with its sound and sights, such as the “Tales of the Alhambra” by W. Irving. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel. Optional Gipsy Flamenco show at Sacromonte quarter (extra cost).
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport.
