Discover the highlights of Oslo, Norway's beautiful capital

Explore Bergen and its highlights, including Bryggen, a historic landmark with colourful wooden houses. Travel through Hardangerfjord and Sognefjord, two of the longest and deepest fjords in Norway. Visit the picturesque village of Flåm and continue your journey towards the Jostedal Glacier, the largest glacier on the European mainland. Depart to Oslo, the capital of Norway known for its green spaces and museums. Visit Holmenkollen, the Opera House, and Bygdøy, a nearby forested peninsula with some of the city’s most popular museums, hiking trails and beaches.

Day 1
Arrival in Bergen

Own arrangements on arrival and remainder of day at leisure in Bergen, the gateway to the fjords. Evening welcome meeting with tour leader. Take an evening journey on the funicular railway known as Fløibanen to the top of the nearby mountains for some stunning views (supplement applies).

Day 2
Bergen - Hardangerfjord - Norheimsund

In the morning, enjoy a 2-hour sightseeing tour of Bergen, including the popular fish market, and the historical part of Bergen known as Bryggen. Depart Bergen and head into the beautiful Hardangerfjord, the orchard of Norway.

Day 3
Norheimsund - Flåm - Balestrand

Continuation via Voss to Stalheimen, situated on the very top of the Nærøydalen Canyon with a panoramic view over the valley. Drive via the panoramic route to the idyllic village of Flåm, from where you enjoy a fjord cruise to Gudvangen. Continue in your coach to Vangsnes, crossing the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Norway and arriving in Balestrand for check-in and dinner.

Day 4
Balestrand - Nigardsbreen Glacier - Balestrand

Travel by ferry across the Fjærlandfjord, before reaching Jostedal and the Breheimsenteret Glacier Centre located by the Jostedal Glacier. The Jostedal Glacier is, the largest glacier on the European mainland. The whole glacier, and also some of the nearby valleys, is protected as a national park. In front of the glacier, there’s a small lake, which can be crossed on-board the passenger boat. Unlike other glaciers, here you can get right up close. Lunch and entrance are also included at the Breheimsenteret Glacier Centre.

Day 5
Balestrand - Flam - Oslo

Mid-morning journey across the Sognefjord again, this time to Flåm, before boarding one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world, the Flåm Railway. A spectacular train journey that offers a panoramic view of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. The Flåm Railway is one of the steepest train lines in the world on normal tracks, where almost 80% of the journey has a gradient of 5.5%. Change trains in Myrdal and Geilo. Travel by coach for the remainder of the journey to the Norwegian capital, Oslo.

Day 6

Enjoy a 3-hour city tour of Oslo including the Vigeland Park with its 200 sculptures, a visit to Holmenkollen ski jump for a fantastic view over the city, and a walk on the Opera house (no entrances). Afternoon is at leisure to further explore Oslo and why not take one of the local ferries to the Bygdøy peninsula and visit one of the many popular museums.
