As a university town, Valladolid boasts a great miscellany of arts and cultural highlights which include emblematic buildings such as the house of Cervantes, the museum of Christopher Columbus and the National Museum of Sculpture. Our Discover Valladolid package takes you to very heart of this historical city, giving you enough time to appreciate its medieval architecture, rural tradition, and mesmerizing vineyards including the Ribera del Duero, one of the famous designations of origin in Spanish wines.
Upon arrival at the train station, your English-speaking driver will greet you at the arrival hall and transfer from train station to the hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at your leisure.
Enjoy a complete tour around Valladolid’s old town, which presents a marvellous complex full of palaces, mansions of noble-families, churches, squares. Your private guide will show you the very spot where the Catholic Monarchs got married, Cristóbal Colón died, or Cervantes finished writing his Quixote. You will discover the most significant spots of Valladolid, such as the Church of San Pablo, the Pimentel Palace where Philip II of Spain was born and the School of San Gregorio, a superb example of Elizabethan art functioning nowadays as National Museum of Sculpture. You will visit the city’s cathedral and later go on to relax in the Main Square and enjoy the local atmosphere while savouring local tapas. After your tour you can enjoy the remainder of your day at leisure.
“Ribera del Duero”, is a paradise for wine lovers with grapevines from Castile and León, all along the Douro basin. There are hundreds of wineries to be found in this paradise, but none is like the one you are going to visit today. About an hour from Valladolid you will visit a winery with gastronomic variety and impressive architecture. Designed by the famous Norman Foster, this winery is a cosy fusion between the modern and the traditional styles, between the industrial ways of working and the farming of the land. Discover the winemaking process, from the grape to the bottle with your private guide and learn why the winery was designed like a flower with three petals. You will end the visit with a tasting of three different wines and a little snack. After our vineyard visit you will continue to an outstanding local restaurant and enjoy their menu and its varied wines. On your return trip to Valladolid, you will enjoy a short stop to explore the mythical Peñafiel Castle.
Following breakfast at your hotel, your journey will end with a transfer from hotel to the train station.
