The Spanish Paradores are luxury hotels set in castles, palaces, convents, monasteries, fortresses and other historic buildings throughout Spain. These accommodation services offer world-class hospitality combined with awe-inspiring insights into the country's past and present makeup. In this exciting 15-day itinerary, you have ample time to discover these iconic lodgings, selected for their distinct character, amazing location, and superb level of comfort. Aside from charming stays in paradores, this self-guided itinerary also covers exciting tours and activities in the different parts of Spain, including cultural visits to Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, San Sebastian, La Rioja, Toledo and the Andalusian region.
This tour departs daily from April to October 2020.

- Half day Madrid city tour (no entrances)

- Full day Bilbao and San Sebastian tour from Hondarribia with entrance to the Guggenheim
- Full day Barcelona city tour with entrance to Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell

- Half day tour in Zaragoza and continue to Barcelona

Arrive in Madrid airport and transfer to the Paradores de Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) for your overnight stay.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel followed by a private tour of Madrid. During your tour, you will discover the varied contrasts that Madrid offers to its visitors: the elegant Plaza de Oriente, Spain, Parque del Oeste, Príncipe Pío, Puente del Rey, and Virgen del Puerto Hermitage which offers one of the best views of its historic site. You'll end at Segovia Bridge and continue towards Plaza Mayor, Plaza de la Villa, Puerta del Sol, Neptune, Atocha, Puerta de Alcalá, Calle Alcalá, the stately Parque del Retiro and Plaza de Toros. You will continue to the new Madrid, with its modern buildings, gardens, Paseo de la Castellana, until you reach Plaza de Castilla (Puerta de Europa). Afterwards, descend to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Plaza de la Cibeles, Gran Vía and Plaza del Callao. There will be stops at the Retiro Park and Plaza de Toros to walk and take pictures, as long as time permits and in the company of the guide. After your tour, you will have the afternoon at leisure.
After breakfast you will depart by private car and travel to the north of Spain. Your first stop will be Burgos, where you will have a tour of its historic centre and the famous Gothic Cathedral. Enjoy some free time for lunch before continuing to the beautiful town of Hondarribia where you will stay overnight at the Paradores de Hondarribia.
After breakfast at your hotel, you will enjoy a full day visit to Bilbao and San Sebastian. You will leave early to visit the city of Bilbao. Here, you will discover the impressive Guggenheim Museum and visit its historical centre, stopping in some typical places to taste the famous pintxos. You will continue to visit one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, San Sebastian. Upon arrival, you will meet your guide and have a private tour of the most emblematic places of the city: The Peine del Viento, the Plaza de la Constitución, the Church of Santa María del Coro, its famous Playa de la Shell. Later this afternoon you will transfer to the hotel.
After breakfast, you will transfer to La Rioja. Along the way you will stop to taste some of the best wines in the region. You will visit the Marqués de Riscal winery and enjoy a wine tasting. For reasons of availability, this may be changed by another location. This evening you will be staying at Paradores de Calahorra.
After breakfast, you will depart for Barcelona. In the middle of the transfer, you will stop in Zaragoza where you will have a private guided tour to discover the most important historical remains and its famous Basilica del Pilar. You'll then continue the transfer to Barcelona. For the next 3 nights, you will stay in the Paradores de Cardona.
Following breakfast, you will enjoy a full day city tour of Barcelona. Starting with a tour through the upper part of the city with Montjuic and its views towards the Plaza de España, you will continue to the centre of Barcelona to take a walk through the famous Ramblas, Boquería Market and Gothic Quarter. In the afternoon, visit two of the jewels of the artist Gaudí, La Sagrada Familia and Park Güell before finishing the tour with a visit of the most luxurious street of the city, Paseo de Gracia, with famous houses like La Pedrera and Casa Batló. Return to Cardona for your overnight stay.
Have a relaxed breakfast at your hotel before enjoying your free time in Barcelona. Return to Paradores de Cardona for your overnight stay.
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before your flight (not included) to the city of Granada. Depending on the availability of the tour of the Alhambra, you will have it in the afternoon or in the morning of the following day.
This morning, you will leave at 9:00 am and transfer to Seville, where you will stay at the Paradores de Carmona. This afternoon, you can enjoy some free time to discover this beautiful town.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, you will visit the city in private with a local guide. You'll walk through the impressive Plaza de España and its María Luisa Park. Lose yourself in the narrow streets of the exceptional Barrio de Santa Cruz and get to know the inside of the Cathedral.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred by private car to the city of Córdoba. Check in to the hotel and you have the remainder of the day at your leisure.
Breakfast at the hotel then transfer to the AVE station (not included) to take the high-speed train to Madrid. Upon arrival, you will meet your driver and transfer to the Paradores de Chinchón.
Following breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and travel just 45 minutes to visit one of the most monumental cities in Spain with a mixture of monuments of various cultures. During the tour, you will visit the interior of the Cathedral, the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca and discover the art of Damascene. Return to Madrid (Chinchon) in the afternoon.
Have your breakfast at the hotel then transfer to the airport for your onward journey. End of services.
