Itinerary
This morning, depart early and travel to Zaragoza. Enjoy some free time to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, patroness of Hispanity, and stroll through the old streets of Zaragoza. In the afternoon, continue to San Sebastian, one of the most famous tourist destinations. On arrival, you will have a panoramic tour of this city.
Following breakfast at the hotel, travel to Mount Igueldo to contemplate the marvellous views of the city and then proceed towards Bilbao. Enjoy a panoramic drive in Bilbao before some free time on the esplanade where the Guggenheim Museum is located in order to admire this modern architectural building. Proceed to the old fishing village “Castro Urdiales”. Here, you will have some free time to take some photos before you continue on to Santander.
Today, depart to Santillana, one of the most important historical artistic towns in Spain. Continue to Covadonga, where you will have free time to see the Sanctuary and the Grotto. In the afternoon, travel to Oviedo, where you will see on a series of hills the beauty of Saint Maria de Naranco Church. Free time to explore Oviedo, where many of the streets are pedestrian, where you will be able to see World Heritage sites like The Cathedral.
Following breakfast at the hotel, drive to Lugo in the Galician region. You will have free time to be able to view the Roman remains like its walls. Continue on to La Coruña for a brief panoramic drive through the main avenues of this fabulous town with the typical Galician architecture. You will have a short stop at the oldest working lighthouse. Afternoon at leisure.
This morning, depart for Santiago de Compostela. On the city tour, you will see the main square called Obradoiro and also the Cathedral (entrance included) dedicated to the Apostle Santiago. Balance of the day at leisure.
Following breakfast at the hotel, travel towards one of the most marvellous areas of Galicia, the Rias Bajas (Spanish Fjords). On arrival at La Toja Island, have some free time before you continue to the Ria de Arosa, passing through Pontevedra to arrive at Vigo, situated in the middle of the Rias Baixas.
After breakfast, leave for the Portuguese border and then continue via Viana do Castelo, a city located between the mouth of the river Miño and Porto.
This morning, you will enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour of Porto. Afterwards, enjoy a different perspective of the city as you take a cruise along the river Douro. This afternoon, you will discover the historic heritage of a well-known Port wine cellar with wine tasting included. Rest of day at leisure.
Today, travel to Coimbra. Upon arrival, have some free time before you continue on to Fatima. Fatima is the centre of the Christian faith, featuring a World Pilgrimage Sanctuary with an impressive Basilica and the Cova da Iria place. At night, there is a possibility to attend the procession of the candles.
This morning, visit the Batalha Monastery, a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline style considered a World Heritage place by UNESCO. You then continue to the picturesque fishing town of Nazaré where you will enjoy some free time. This afternoon, travel to Alcobaça (World Heritage site) with its Gothic church and Cistercian monastery, whose origins date back to the 12th century. This evening, you have the option to join a traditional and typical dinner including a show of Fado, typical Portuguese song and music (extra cost).
Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of the ancient Olissipo, drive through its main squares and avenues, seeing the Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, Coach Museum, Monument to the Discoverers, Marquis of Pombal Square and Liberty Avenue. You have an afternoon at leisure.
This morning, depart early as you head to Caceres, considered a World Heritage place because of the city’s blend of Roman, Islamic, Northern Gothic and Italian Renaissance architecture. Walk through its Plaza Mayor and the Old Town with its famous Medieval Quarter. Afterwards, continue on towards Córdoba, once the capital of the Caliphate. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.
Enjoy an impressive tour of Cordoba’s Mosque and other sites in the Jewish Quarter. In the afternoon, after a short two-hour ride, reach Seville. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.
This morning, take a panoramic city tour visiting: the exterior of the Cathedral (the second largest in the Catholic world after St. Peters in Rome), Santa Cruz quarter (a natural scenario of “Carmen” as well as a precisely where the myth of “Don Juan” developed), Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de España. Afternoon at leisure for you to discover exclusive views, specific flavours of this active, full of light city. Dinner at the hotel followed by an option to join a Flamenco tour (extra cost).
Drive east through the Caliphate road to the heart of Andalusia, observing an endless number of olive trees on the way to Granada and its incredible and amazing monumental environment, last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdoms up to 1492. Visit the world-famous Alhambra complex and Generalife Gardens that have inspired several authors with its sound and sights, such as the “Tales of the Alhambra” by W. Irving. Dinner at the hotel. Tonight, you have the option to see Gipsy Flamenco show at Sacromonte quarter (extra cost).
After breakfast at the hotel, drive toward the Mediterranean coast travelling via Murcia, the capital of the fertile garden of the Segura river. You then continue north via Alicante, which is the second largest city within the region of Valencia. Finally, the last stop of the day is in Valencia where you will stay overnight.
Enjoy a morning city tour of this bright city, including a drive through the old city showing the most prominent buildings. You will then be driven past the old riverbed of the Turia to the most avant-garde complex “Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias” to see the emblematic exteriors of the six buildings. In the early afternoon, depart northward all along the Mediterranean coast to Catalunya, via Tarragona and the Roman Tarraco. Then, onto Barcelona.
This morning, you will join a city tour of Barcelona. Drive along the main avenues with impressive modernist buildings by Gaudi, such as La Pedrera, Casa Mila, etc. This afternoon is for you to keep on discovering this city at your own pace.
After breakfast at the hotel, depart southwest to Zaragoza. You will have some free time to see the impressive Baroque architecture of the Basilic-Temple of Our Lady Pilar. Continue to Madrid. End of tour.
