Leave it to Basel to satisfy your craving for medieval yet thoroughly modern approach to art and culture. Few European cities can rival Basel as a hodgepodge of cultural attractions. It has the highest density of museums in the country with each site blending different elements, inspirations and disciplines for each craft. If you're not keen on museums, a walk through its pastel coloured old town is a great diversion. Stroll through the car-free streets, visit magnificent ruins, or linger for a while in the spirited Marktplatz or at the Basel Minster - the city’s Gothic Romanesque cathedral. The next day brings in excitement as you uncover the magical evergreen landscapes of Germany's Black Forest. Legend has it that the Brothers Grimm' fairy tales were inspired by this unique setting. Take a moment to appreciate Baden-Baden, one of Europe's stylishly sophisticated spa towns, before you gaze upon the combined Romanesque and Gothic style of Freiburger Münster, the famous 11th century cathedral in southwest Germany. In the third day, you'll journey towards Colmar where the canal and floral displays as well as Alsacian wines are sure to excite—the perfect way to conclude a culture-packed Swiss tour.

Upon arrival, transfer via rail from Zürich Airport to Basel and make your way to the hotel. Basel is situated on the banks of the Rhine, at the border triangle of France, Germany and Switzerland. Leisurely explore the pastel coloured old town with its quaint medieval buildings.
After breakfast, you will travel across the border to Germany, visiting Freiburg in the Black Forest and discovering the Baden way of life. Take in the many sites of this medieval town. A highlight is the 11th century Freiburger Münster located in the central market.
Today, you cross the France border and travel to Colmar in the Alsace region, situated not far from the Swiss border. This charming town is known for its Alsacian wines. Nestled amongst its vineyards are many traditional houses. The canal and floral displays (when in bloom) are sure to excite you. Colmar retains a ‘country town’ atmosphere which contributes to its charm. Try pain d’épices and visit the wine caves before returning to Basel.
