Escape from hustle and bustle and retreat to the tranquil, car-free mountain village of Stoos. The breathtaking alpine village lies on a high plateau of the same name at the foot of the Fronalpstock 1,921 metres above sea level. Stoos is home to the world’s steepest funicular rail line with barrel-shaped carriages whisking you along gradients as steep as 110%. Aside from epic train tracks, the peaceful village also features impressive high alpine footpaths, panoramic trails, charming BBQ places and woodlands, and access to the Swiss Path consisting of fun and easy hikes around the southern end of Lake Lucerne.

Day 1
Lucerne - Stoos

Board the famous paddle steamers or one of the many salon motor vessels for a lake cruise to remember. Crossing from Lucerne to Brunnen, this cruise shows passengers impressive Alpine views. On docking, board a bus and transfer from Brunnen to Schywz where you will be taken to the worlds steepest funicular rail line to the mountain village of Stoos. The Schywz-Stoos funicular, hailed as a triumph of modern design engineering, will whisk you up the mountain at speeds of 10 metres per second – whilst the carriages remain horizontal. The train carriages resemble beer barrel and climbs along gradients as steep as 110% (47 degrees). Upon arrival, make your own way to the hotel. Tonight, you will enjoy a 4-course dinner at the hotel.

Day 2

Today, explore the summit of the home mountain which can be comfortably reached with the covered chairlift. Alternatively, enjoy hiking on the Swiss Path through Tell’s home village or on the numerous routes around the mountain village of Stoos. You may also opt for some water fun at the Stoos lake. You can reach Morschach with a cable car offering scenic alpine views. Enjoy Morschach's magnificent vantage points and take advantage of impressive walking opportunities. Tonight, you will enjoy dinner at the hotel.
