Explore Switzerland’s top spots including Zürich, Lucerne, Bern, Gruyères, Zermatt, Lugano and Geneva. During this tour, you will also cross the border into Italy and the Principality of Liechtenstein. Your trip starts in Zurich and then to Lucerne, a charming city that sits on the banks of Lake Lucerne. Explore the old town including the famous Chapel Bridge, one of the oldest wooden bridges in Europe. From Lucerne, head to the mountain resort of Engelberg and enjoy a panoramic cable car ride to the summit of Mount Titlis, a mountain of the Uri Alps and the highest summit of the range north of the Susten Pass. Continue to Interlaken then to the capital city of Bern. Explore the city’s old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site brimming with historic towers, fountains and museums. Head south and visit the scenic hilltop village of Gruyeres. Continue to Geneva, the French-speaking city located at the southern tip of Lake Geneva surrounded by the Alps and Jura Mountain. After Geneva, head to Lausanne, Montreux then Zermatt. Zermatt is a mountain resort located below the iconic Matterhorn. Enjoy spectacular views of snow-capped mountain peaks with a cog-wheel train ride up to Gornergrat. Continue your journey to the sun-kissed city of Lugano and the popular resort town of St. Moritz. You will also visit Liechtenstein, a principality located between Switzerland and Austria.
This morning, depart Zürich at 8:30 am. The first stop for today will be in the city of Lucerne where you’ll walk over the 14th century wooden bridge and have some time at leisure for shopping and sightseeing. At noon, you’ll proceed to the mountain village of Engelberg. From here, enjoy a magnificent ride in the new revolving “ROTAIR” gondola to the summit of Mount Titlis. In the afternoon, cross the Brünig Pass to reach the village of Brienz, before continuing to Interlaken at the foot of Jungfrau mountain.
This morning, leave Interlaken and drive along the beautiful Lake of Thun to the Swiss capital, Bern. Upon arrival, you’ll join a city tour to the Old Town. After the tour, you’ll continue south past scenic dairy farms to Gruyères, a beautiful hilltop town preserved against time. Here, you’ll visit a factory of delicious milk products before you continue the drive to the Vaud Riviera and reach Geneva.
Today, start with a city tour of Geneva before departing to Lausanne and Montreux. Pass by Chillon Castle, the 13th century fortress made famous by Lord Byron’s poem. In the afternoon, proceed through the Valais, the valley of the river Rhone to Täsch, where you will board a cogwheel train that takes us to the mountain village of Zermatt, located at the foot of the mighty Matterhorn.
Enjoy the morning at leisure in Zermatt before boarding the train to Täsch where your bus is waiting to take you over the breathtaking Nufenen Pass into the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland and on to Lugano.
This morning, leave Lugano and drive along the scenic road to Gandria, where you cross the border into Italy. Along the romantic shores of Lake Como, pass by Menaggio and reach Chiavenna in the lovely Bregaglia Valley. In Castasegna, re-enter Switzerland and drive thirteen hairpin bends over the Maloja Pass. Passing by crystal blue Lake Sils and Silvaplana, reach the world-renowned mountain resort of St. Moritz in the late afternoon.
Leave St. Moritz in the morning and cross the Julier Pass to Chur, the oldest town in Switzerland. Continue to the Principality of Liechtenstein and visit Vaduz, its capital. This tiny country with the mighty castle, which is the home of the present Prince and his family, attracts visitors from all over the world. In the afternoon, you will return to Zürich through the Toggenburg region.
This morning, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Zürich and its surroundings. Following the city tour, you will travel to the Hoehenstrasse, which offers spectacular views of the Alps before ascending to Rapperswil, the Town of Roses, where a visit to the Rosegarden, the castle and the deer park is included. Return to Zürich in the late afternoon.
