Day 1 Santiago de Compostela Ferrol Viveiro

Your journey commences with a warm reception at 10 a.m. Following a delightful tour of Santiago and a scrumptious lunch, guests will embark on a scenic bus ride to Ferrol, where the train is waiting. Get acquainted with the crew and settle into your accommodations before venturing out to explore Viveiro at your leisure. Enjoy dinner and spend the night aboard the train in Viveiro.

Day 2 Viveiro Ribadeo Taramundi Luarca

Breakfast is served on board as the train arrives in Ribadeo. From there, a coach journey leads into the scenic Los Oscos region to visit the ethnographic site of Os Teixois, a remarkable example of traditional rural life. Continue to Taramundi to explore the historic Castro settlement and the Cutlery Museum, highlighting local craftsmanship.

After lunch in Taramundi, the train continues to Luarca, the first stop in Asturias and known as the “White Town of the Green Coast.” Take time to explore this charming coastal town before dinner. Overnight stay onboard the train in Luarca.

Day 3 Luarca Oviedo Gijón Llanes

The day begins with an early departure from Luarca. After breakfast, a coach takes the group to the vibrant coastal city of Gijón, known for its maritime heritage and lively atmosphere.

In the afternoon, travel to Oviedo, the capital of Asturias, for a city visit and free time to explore its rich cultural sites and historic streets.

Later, return to the train and continue to the coastal town of Llanes. Dinner is served on board. Overnight stay in Llanes.

Day 4 Llanes Arenas de Cabrales Cabezón de la Sal

After breakfast, travel by coach to Arenas de Cabrales, set in the heart of the Picos de Europa mountains. Visit the Cabrales Cheese Cave-Museum and enjoy time in the village, famous for its cheese-making tradition and natural surroundings.

Lunch is served locally before returning to Llanes. In the afternoon, the journey continues by train to Cabezón de la Sal. Dinner and overnight stay in Cabezón de la Sal.

Day 5 Cabezón de la Sal Santillana del Mar Santander

Begin the day with breakfast, followed by a visit to the beautifully preserved medieval village of Santillana del Mar and the impressive Altamira Neo-Cave, a recreation of prehistoric cave art.

Lunch is enjoyed on board as the train travels to Santander. Upon arrival, explore the city at leisure and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight stay in Santander.

Day 6 Santander Santoña Laredo Bilbao

As breakfast is served, the train makes its way to Treto. From there, a coach takes the group to the historic center of Laredo, followed by a scenic boat ride across the bay to Santoña.

Visit a traditional anchovy cannery to learn about the region's seafood heritage. In the afternoon, the journey concludes in Bilbao. Enjoy a farewell lunch at a local restaurant. The experience concludes around 4:30 p.m.

What is the dress code onboard the train?

The atmosphere on board is one of relaxed nature. During the day dress for relaxed comfort for onboard the train and when embarking on excursions. We suggest wearing durable shoes for excursions, and please be prepared for change of weather. In the evening, guests have the option to choose a more formal outfit.

Which drinks are available aboard the train?

Complimentary wine, beer, soft drinks, tea, and coffee are provided during mealtimes. Outside of mealtimes, the lounge cars offer guests various options to purchase soft drinks, juices, tea, coffee, and water. Additionally, a thoughtfully curated menu of alcoholic beverages is available for purchase, encompassing wines, beers, and spirits, ensuring passengers can enjoy a delightful and refreshing experience while traveling onboard.

Is there Wi-Fi onboard the train?

Yes, there is Wi-Fi connectivity in all rooms and lounges. Each suite is equipped with a computer, and there is also a communal computer available in the Train Lounges (availability subject to carrier coverage).

Can special dietary preferences be requested?

Provided a detailed request has been made at time of booking – special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian and adhering to religious requirements, may be arranged.

Will I need to tip the train staff?

Gratuities for staff and guides are at the passenger’s discretion.

Is there air conditioning on board?

Onboard air-conditioning is provided, with individual control available for cabin air conditioning.

What is the luggage allowance for travelling guests onboard the train?

For ease while on board the train, it is recommended to utilise a travel bag or soft suitcase. Nevertheless, two large suitcases per room can be accommodated in the Suites, with staff onboard to help with loading the luggage.

Is it possible for individuals with mobility limitations to participate in the journey?

While the train has been renovated and features state-of-the-art technologies, it remains a historic and vintage train, lacking interior adaptations for wheelchair or walking frame access. Consequently, these trains are not considered accessible. However, individuals with reduced mobility who rely solely on wheelchair support outside the train can embark on the journey, provided they are accompanied by a companion to help.

Is smoking permitted onboard?

In Spain, smoking is not allowed in enclosed public spaces, including public transport or collective transport vehicles. Consequently, in compliance with existing regulations, travellers are prohibited from smoking while on board. It's important to note that train journeys typically do not exceed 3-4 hours.

Will I need travel insurance?

As with all holidays and trips abroad, we strongly recommend that you have travel insurance. Please consult with our agents at time of booking and we can assist you with this.
