Sail Onboard Star Flyer

Star Flyer is a true clipper ship, reflecting its proud heritage in every inch of polished brass and gleaming brightwork. Step aboard and discover a new age of sail, where the traditions of the past are happily married to modern comforts. At 115 metres long, Star Flyer carries just 166 guests in relaxed, yacht-like style.

Expansive teak decks offer more outdoor space per passenger than most conventional cruise ships, with two swimming pools, open-seating dining, a Tropical Bar, Piano Bar, and an Edwardian-style library. The décor evokes the grand age of sail with antique prints, paintings, and gleaming mahogany rails.

Day 1 Athens | Star Flyer

Make your way to Athens port to begin your sailing adventure aboard the Star Flyer, a classic tall ship that combines timeless charm with modern comfort.

Walking in the shadow of the Acropolis in the Agora, you can almost hear the voices of Plato, Socrates and Aristotle arguing about who was the greatest philosopher. Ancient Athens, the birthplace of democracy and epicenter of western civilization, is a city for all eternity. Piraeus is the port of Athens, just 15km from the city and 45km from the airport.

Day 2 At Sea

Each Star Clippers ship offers a traditional and elegant way to see the world. Feel the wind fill the sails and gently carry you from one gorgeous destination to the next. During your time on board, you can choose to relax on a sun lounger or cool off in one of the pools on the top deck, while more adventurous passengers may enjoy the opportunity to climb the rigging or even have a go at steering the ship. Alternatively, you can wander the interior areas of the ship and discover relaxing lounges and a peaceful library.

Day 4 Myrina

It was Zeus who hurled Hephaestus from Mt. Olympus to land on Limnos, leaving the god of metalworking with a permanent limp. Perhaps he was nursed to health by excellent red and white wines (fortified or not) grown on Limnos volcanic soils. The town of Myrina sits under the winding white ramparts of the Kastro, built in 1186. But even earlier ruins - one of most ancient sites in Greece - lie in nearby Poliohni.

Skiathos, the jewel of Greece's Sporades islands, is famous for its golden sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters and lively atmosphere. Explore the charming streets of Skiathos Town and explore idyllic beaches such as Lalaria or Castro, dominated by the ruins of the ancient capital of Skiathos, both only accessible by boat.

Poros, sometimes called Kavalria, is very close to the Argolid peninsula. It is home to the Greek Naval Academy and visitors can hear the cadet band every morning. Above all, Paros is a gateway to the sanctuary of Asclepius, the Mecca of Greek medicine, and the theatre of Epidaurus, built to host the Asclepia (or Asclepian Games), a competition in honour of the physician god Asclepius. It served as a model for many other Greek theatres.

Day 12 Kalambaka Meteora Athens

Today we will see one of the most amazing places in Greece - Meteora, meaning ‘suspended in air’.

The name Meteora soon came to encompass the entire rock community of 24 monasteries, the biggest and most important group of monasteries in Greece after those in Mount Athos. There were no steps and the main access to the monasteries was by means of a net that was hitched over a hook and hoisted up by rope and a hand cranked windlass to winch towers overhanging the chasm. Monks descended in the nets or on retractable wooden ladders up to 40m long to the fertile valleys below to grow grapes, corn and potatoes. Each community developed its own resources and by the end of the 14th century, the Grand Meteoron emerged as the dominant community. The rock monasteries have been characterized by UNESCO as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage.

After visits start the drive back to Athens passing through Thermopylae for a photo stop.

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

  • Travel on a specific airline of their choice
  • Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
  • Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
  • Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
  • Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia.
