Sail Onboard Star Clipper

Star Clipper is a true clipper ship, reflecting its proud heritage in every inch of polished brass and gleaming brightwork. Step aboard and discover a new age of sail, where the traditions of the past are happily married to modern comforts. At 115 metres long, Star Clipper carries just 166 guests in relaxed, yacht-like style.

Expansive teak decks offer more outdoor space per passenger than most conventional cruise ships, with two swimming pools, open-seating dining, a Tropical Bar, Piano Bar, and an Edwardian-style library. The décor evokes the grand age of sail with antique prints, paintings, and gleaming mahogany rails.

You’ll arrive back in Civitavecchia (Rome) around 7:00 AM and disembark after breakfast.

Welcome to Rome! Meet your driver and take a private transfer to your hotel. During the rest of the day free time at your disposal for a first exploratory tour of the Eternal City.

In case of an early arrival in Rome, we recommend to participate in a series of other optional activities (extra cost), such as a cooking lesson to learn how to make pizza or pasta and ice cream. For the evening we recommend a nice walk in the Trastevere district, full of typical restaurants.

After your breakfast at the hotel, enjoy the city with the hop on hop off open bus tour, which can also be used for getting around the city, ideal for those who want to go sightseeing on their own to discover the most famous symbols of Rome, such as the Colosseum, Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Spain Square.

The rest of the day is free to explore the city. Alternatively, we suggest our tour of Imperial Rome (extra cost), to closely admire the monuments of the Roman Forum, enter the Colosseum and listen to our guide’s presentation of the evocative history of ancient Rome and the gladiators’ fights that took place there.

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel and day at leisure to discover Rome.

You can also choose to add optional experiences, like a guided tour of the Vatican Museums (extra costs), to admire Michelangelo's famous Sistine Chapel and other masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance more closely.

Day 11 Rome Florence

After breakfast at the hotel, you will reach Rome Termini station to board the high-speed train to Florence; the journey takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel and enjoy some leisure time to explore the city, known as the 'Birthplace of the Renaissance' at your pace.

You can also participate in a guided tour (extra cost) of the Accademia Gallery, which houses the original of Michelangelo's famous statue of David.

Day 12 Florence Chianti Florence

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards, you will have the chance to discover the famous Chianti area and its rolling hills with a half day tour from Florence. This your will allow you to get away from the noise and crowds of the city and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the world-famous Tuscan countryside. Your journey through the Chianti wine region begins with a visit to a beautiful family-run estate, whose belief is that making beautiful wine is an art.

You will see and have the opportunity to walk around the small vineyards on the hills above Greve in Chianti, where the family produces their fine Chianti wines, and explore the cellars while learning about the wine making and aging process. You will not be able to leave before having tasted Chianti wine accompanied by local products. Return to Florence.

Day 13 Florence Monterosso

After breakfast at the hotel, we board the regional train to Monterosso with change in Pisa or La Spezia. The journey takes about 3 hours. Monterosso is the starting city to explore the famous Cinque Terre, the stretch of coast with 5 fishing villages perched over the sea: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. The two-day Cinque Terre Train Card is included, which allows access to the National Park area and the use of regional trains that connect the villages and of local buses.

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel and the rest of the day is to continue the visit of the Cinque Terre.

Alternatively, we recommend a wine tasting in Manarola or Monterosso to taste local wines or a Pesto experience to discover the secrets of authentic Italian cuisine with this homemade pesto (extra cost).

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

Travel on a specific airline of their choice
Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
