Day 1 Airport Negombo

Arrival in Sri Lanka / Meet & Greet at the airport where you will meet your private guide. You will then proceed to Negombo in your private car (approximately 30 minutes travel time). 

Check in at resort and spend the day time at your own leisure.

Day 2 Negombo Sigiriya

Enjoy breakfast at the resort.

You'll head to Sigiriya (approximately 3 hours travel time). You'll then proceed to the beautiful Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It is consists of 1200 steps. The first part of the visit is a leisurely walk through the pleasure gardens. Then one starts to climb. There are two areas where one can take a break on the way up. The entire duration of the experience takes approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the speed at which you want to climb. Check in at the resort and enjoy the afternoon at your own leisure.

Day 3 Sigiriya Polonnaruwa Sigiriya

Indulge in breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a journey to Polonnaruwa, approximately 1.5 hours away. Explore the Polonnaruwa Ancient City, a rich repository of Sri Lanka's historical and cultural heritage, offering insights into ancient architectural and artistic achievements through well-preserved ruins and temples.

Notable sites include the Gal Vihara, housing impressive granite sculptures of Lord Buddha, including standing, seated, reclining, and smaller statues all carved from a single rock. Delve into the Vatadage, a circular relic house adorned with intricately carved stone pillars, and the Royal Palace complex, showcasing the administrative and architectural practices of the period. The city's renowned reservoirs, like the Polonnaruwa, which were essential for agriculture and irrigation during ancient times. The Parakrama Samudra, an extensive reservoir, is a prime example of the engineering skills of the period.

Day 4 Sigiriya Anuradhapura Sigiriya

Commence your day with breakfast at the hotel before heading to Anuradhapura. Explore the Anuradhapura Ancient City for about 3 hours, an archaeological treasure trove. Among its significant sites stands the Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, built by King Dutugemunu and revered as a holy site in Buddhism. This architectural marvel features a large white dome encircled by a terrace and rail, adorned with intricate carvings. It holds immense significance as a symbol of Buddhism in Sri Lanka and houses a revered relic—believed to be one of Lord Buddha's collarbones—enshrined within, making it a spiritually profound destination for Buddhists worldwide.

After the visit, return to the hotel for leisure.

Day 5 Sigiriya Kandy

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before traveling to Kandy via Matale, about a 1.5-hour journey. The Sri Lankan Garden is actually a particularly picturesque farm spread over 15 and a half acres towards the top of a mountain so that it boasts incredible views of the Aluvihare Mountains.  You are greeted by your host with farm sourced fresh juice and taken on a guided walk where you can learn about the garden’s collection of Sri Lankan produce, from pepper to papaya, cocoa to coconut and mango to mahogany.  After observing these crops growing, enjoy the fruits of the planters’ labour with a traditionally prepared rice and curry lunch.

Check in at the resort in Kandy and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Hike through the Knuckles with a knowledgeable trekker, delving into a biodiverse region cherished by scientists and home to 40 secluded villages and endemic wildlife. The area's rugged, misty terrain provides an enchanting backdrop for this off-the-beaten-path experience. Opt for a half-day (8km) or full-day (18km) trek during the best months of March–April and June–August.

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

  • Travel on a specific airline of their choice
  • Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
  • Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
  • Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
  • Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
