AN ARCTIC CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE
Experience Parisian holiday at Galeries Lafayette as it celebrates an Arctic Christmas. The popular department store aims to promote an environmental cause during this holiday season. The Arctic Christmas tells a story of a family of polar bears leaving the North Pole due to melting ice caps. After travelling miles across the globe, the bears discover a new ice pack created by Galeries Lafayette. The windows also display the story of family of polar bears.
Galeries Lafayette has also unveiled its Christmas tree made entirely from paper, created by Lorenzo Papace, French art director and writer born in Lyon.
The Christmas theme was launched last November 8 with Amélie actress Audrey Tatou.
Galeries Lafayette is an upscale department store with a flagship store located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. Its success traces back in 1893 when two cousins from Alsace, Theophile Bader and Alphonse Kahn opened a shop selling novelty items in the corner of rue La Fayette and rue de la Chaussee d’Antin.
In 1896, the company the building at 1 rue la Fayette, followed by numbers 38, 40 and 42 on Haussmann Boulevard. In October 1912, the luxury flagship store was launched. Today, it has 57 stores in France and 4 stores outside France including Berlin, Dubai, Jakarta and Beijing. They’ve also announced opening stores in Istanbul, Doha and Milan.

You can find the latest jewellery collection from Aurelie Biderman, Bulgari, Charlotte Chesnais, Chaumet, David Yurman, Bijoux de Famille and Tiffany & Co.
The store has also created the largest fashion collection for women spanning 15,000 square metres offering 320 French and international brands.
Three floors are dedicated to men’s fashion collection with 250 French and international brands including Emporio Armani, Lacoste, Sandro, Vivienne Westwood, Carven, Burberry Prorsum and more. This department also boasts an extensive footwear collection, fragrance section and leather goods.
The children’s department offers fashion for children up to 16 years old. It also features a toy section and a baby changing facilities.
The Beauty department spans 2,500 square metres and is home to 172 brands. Top brands include Chanel, Clinique, Dior, Estee Lauder, Giorgio Armani, Guerlain, Narciso Rodriquez, Lancome, Shiseido, Sisley, Tom Ford, Yves Saint Laurent, Bulgari, Crème de la Mar, La Prairie, Shu Uemera, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Atelier, Cologne, Annick Goutal, Jo Malone, L’Artisan Parfumeur and Serge Lutens. It also features a Chanel Beauty Department, Mavala, a manicure salon, and Jean-Marc Maniatis hair salon.
After shopping, relax and dine in one of the restaurants. The department store has more than 20 restaurants offering diverse cuisine from salads to desserts.
