Experience “luxury gone wild” at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge, an all-inclusive eco-safari-style resort destination located near Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Accessible only by seaplane, helicopter or boat and situated in a UNESCO-designated protected Biosphere Reserve, guests enjoy a truly remote, refined and remarkable wilderness retreat amidst one of the last remaining ancient temperate rainforests in the world.

Clayoquot features 25 white canvas prospector-style tents, each richly appointed with luxurious comforts including cast iron stoves, antique furnishings and luxurious linens.

Day 1 Vancouver Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge

Enjoy scenic views of the Strait of Georgia and Vancouver Island on the 45-minute floatplane ride from Vancouver International Airport's South River Terminal. Deplane and climb into a horse-drawn wagon for a ride along the estuary to the Outpost. Upon arrival, enjoy champagne and hors d’oeuvres awaiting at the Cookhouse. After a brief orientation, you’ll be given a private tour of the resort and escorted to your guest tent. Enjoy time to unpack, relax, go for a stroll, meet with our activities coordinators or take in a pre-dinner spa treatment if time allows.

Day 2-3 Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge

The lodge offers a series of extraordinary nature-based adventures and a personalised itinerary for each guest. Some possible activities may include: Horseback Riding, explore the scenic trails on horseback, guided by experienced wranglers who will lead you through the picturesque landscapes surrounding the resort. Kayaking and Canoeing, take to the water and paddle through pristine lakes or gentle rivers, allowing you to appreciate the natural beauty and wildlife of the area. Hiking and Nature Walks, embark on guided hikes or nature walks, led by knowledgeable guides who will share information about the local flora, fauna, and the rich cultural history of the region. Wildlife Viewing, Clayoquot Sound is home to diverse wildlife, including bears, eagles, whales, and sea lions. Guests may have opportunities to observe these incredible creatures in their natural habitats. Fishing, experience the thrill of angling in the resort’s surrounding waters, with opportunities to catch a variety of fish species. Spa and Wellness, after an active day, indulge in relaxation and rejuvenation at the resort’s spa, offering a range of treatments to pamper and revitalise the body and mind.

Day 4 Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge Vancouver

Before getting ready to depart, join one last morning meditation or yoga class or a trail run along the Bedwell River. After breakfast is served, you will have one last activity. One last lunch will be served at the lodge before guests luggage is picked up and guests are transferred to the floatplane dock for the flight back to Vancouver.

Accessible only by floatplane from Vancouver, the lodge features 25 beautifully appointed canvas tents with antique furnishings, heated floors, and views of the forest, river, or ocean. Days are tailored with activities like kayaking, canyoning, horseback riding, hiking, and wildlife encounters, while evenings offer gourmet dining and deep relaxation at the riverside Healing Grounds Spa. Package pricing is based on a Rainforest Deluxe Tent. Enveloped in the cool reserves of old and new growth forest, the Rainforest Deluxe features a generous king bed plus sofa bed. Each tent features contemporary furnishings, a cast iron heated stove, and opens to a veranda with traditional Adirondack chairs made for relaxing with a book and drinking in the view. A separate private bathroom is located just steps outside the tent.

If you wish to upgrade to a Rainforest Ensuite Tent, Waterfront Tent, or Waterfront Ensuite Tent, please contact our dedicated reservations team who can assist with providing the upgrade cost.

Rainforest Ensuite features a generous king bed plus sofa bed. Each tent features contemporary furnishings, a cast iron heated stove and opens to a veranda with traditional Adirondack chairs made for relaxing with a book and drinking in the view. The ensuite bathroom features heated floors, double sinks and a private outdoor cedar shower with views up into the lush green rainforest canopy.

Lining the banks of the sound and offering sweeping views of the ocean and Bedwell River, the Waterfront Deluxe is ideal for spotting wildlife right on the doorstep or welcoming the rising sun from the private deck. Each tent features a luxurious king bed that can be split into two single beds and a double sofa bed. A private bathroom, located separately just steps outside the tent, includes a shower and luxurious heated floors.

Located either facing the rising sun or situated on the secluded side of the Bedwell River, alongside the rainforest, the Waterfront Ensuite offers direct views to the water and its boisterous wildlife. Each tent features a generous king bed, a double sofa bed and an outdoor deck with traditional Adirondack seating. An in-tent ensuite bathroom features heated floors, double vanity and a private outdoor cedar-clad shower. Each tent features desk space, a cast iron heated stove, and comfortable, contemporary furnishings.

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

Travel on a specific airline of their choice
Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
