After breakfast, at 7:30am, meet your driver at the hotel and travel to Parma, where you will be joined by a local guide for a full day discovering the region's celebrated culinary traditions.
Your first stop is an authentic producer of Parmigiano Reggiano PDO, where you'll learn how Italy's most famous cheese has been crafted using the same traditional methods for centuries. Witness the cheese-making process, see the salt baths where the wheels mature, and explore the impressive ageing rooms, often referred to as the "cathedrals" of Parmigiano Reggiano. A tasting is included.
Next, visit a family-run producer of Prosciutto di Parma PDO to discover the secrets behind this world-renowned delicacy. Learn why the unique climate of the Parma hills, influenced by sea breezes from the Ligurian coast, creates the ideal conditions for curing Parma ham.
Enjoy a leisurely farm-to-table lunch showcasing the region's finest produce. The menu includes Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma, a selection of local cured meats, traditional tortelli di Parma, homemade cakes, and local wines such as Lambrusco and Malvasia.
After lunch, continue to the picturesque medieval village of Torrechiara for a photo stop. Overlooking the village is the magnificent Torrechiara Castle, one of the most beautiful castles in Northern Italy. Built in 1448 by Pier Maria Rossi for his beloved Bianca Pellegrini, it remains a symbol of one of Italy's great medieval love stories.
Return to Parma for a private two-hour walking tour through the historic centre. Explore the city's elegant streets and landmarks while learning about its rich history and cultural heritage. Please note that entrance fees to museums and monuments are not included.
