Day 1 Oviedo Gijón Llanes

Reception onboard the train at Oviedo station at approximately 10am, followed by accommodation arrangements.

Explore the historic center of Oviedo, then transfer via coach to Gijón. Enjoy meals throughout the day. In the afternoon, explore Gijón before returning to the train bound for Llanes. Dinner will be served onboard during the journey, with overnight accommodation onboard the train in Llanes.

Day 2 Llanes Picos de Europa Cabezón de la Sal

Following breakfast, embark on a coach journey to the Picos de Europa, including visits to the Lakes of Covadonga, Santuario, and Cangas de Onis, notable as the first Spanish capital post-reconquest.

Enjoy meals en route. In the afternoon, return to the train and explore the charming fishing village of Llanes. Dinner will be served onboard, followed by overnight accommodations in Cabezón de la Sal.

Day 3 Cabezón de la Sal Santillana Santander

After brekfast onboard, guests will start off the day with a visit to the Neocave of Altamira, a museum showcasing an accurate reproduction of the renowned Upper Palaeolithic cave art. Next, explore Santillana del Mar, renowned for its remarkably preserved medieval historic center.

Following lunch, hop on a train bound for Santander, the sophisticated capital of Cantabria, where a guided tour awaits, along with leisure time. Conclude the day with dinner and an overnight stay in Santander.

Day 4 Santander Bilbao San Sebastian

As guests enjoy breakfast, El Transcantábrico begins its journey towards Bilbao. Upon arrival, bid farewell to the crew and the train to explore this vibrant city, which has successfully revitalized itself following the decline of its traditional heavy industry.

The city tour encompasses a visit to the renowned Guggenheim Museum, an iconic symbol of Bilbao's transformation. Following exploration, journey to San Sebastian, where you will indulge in lunch at the Costa Vasca Hotel, concluding the tour around 4:30 pm.

GRAND LUXURY SUITE:
The Grand Luxury Suites, adorned with exclusive details, are spacious and designed for rest and privacy. There are only 14 suites in the train's 7 cars - and each suite can be set up to be used as a single, double or triple room.

Each suite is made up of a lounge, bedroom, and private bathroom. The sleeping area features a spacious double bed (1.5m x 2.0m) or two twin beds (0.8m x 2.0m), television and wardrobe while the lounge area has a comfortable sofa, which can be turned into a bed (0.8m x 1.80m), luggage closet, writing desk, safe, minibar, flatscreen TV, music player, adjustable air-conditioning, multimedia computer with free Internet access and internal telephone service. All suites feature their own spacious, comfortable bathroom, with a hydromassage shower and steam sauna, hairdryer, and a varied set of welcome items and toiletries.

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

Travel on a specific airline of their choice
Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
