Overview

Experience five days of winter adventure in the far north. Enjoy snowmobiling and kick-sledding, and take in the breathtaking winter scenery from above on a sightseeing flight. There is also an opportunity to see wildlife up close at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. The ice fishing and snowshoeing tour is one of the best ways to enjoy the tranquillity of the Yukon wilderness and capture stunning photographs of the landscape, all while trying your luck at catching a lake trout with the help of an experienced ice fishing guide. On two evenings of your choice, you’ll travel just outside the city centre, far enough from the lights, to an idyllic Northern Lights viewing location, the AuroraCentre. A winter holiday simply isn’t complete without the chance to watch the aurora borealis cascading across the night sky. This is an eventful winter tour in the Yukon for both young and young-at-heart travellers.

Day 2 Whitehorse

The day begins with a sightseeing flight above the spectacular winter scenery on a 30-minute flight. During the flight, the Yukon winter can be enjoyed from an angle only a few people ever experience. Back in Whitehorse, discover the history of the north on a city sightseeing tour. Whitehorse has much to offer, including famous sights such as the historic Paddlewheeler SS Klondike and a “skyscraper” completely made of logs. Later, travel to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve to see up-close inhabitants such as elk, moose, caribou, mountain goats and lynx in their natural surroundings. That evening, head out again to seek views of the stunning Northern Lights. Relax in sheltered comfort, or beneath the starry sky beside a warm fire at one of the tailor-made aurora viewing locations.

Day 3 Whitehorse

A truly northern experience: today includes an ice fishing and snowshoeing adventure at one of the beautiful lakes in the Whitehorse area. Snowshoeing is one of the best ways to enjoy the tranquillity of the Yukon wilderness and capture stunning photographs of the landscape. Depending on conditions, the guide will select the ideal lake for the ice fishing experience. Hot drinks are available to keep guests warm. If a trout is caught, the guide will fillet and cook it on the fire. At the end of the day, return to Whitehorse with a record catch of great memories. Later in the evening, head to the AuroraCentre to seek the spectacular northern lights.

Day 4 Whitehorse

Travel into the mountains near Whitehorse. Following a detailed safety introduction, step onto the snowmobiles. At an enjoyable pace, pass through the memorable winter scenery of the Yukon and take in the views of snow-covered mountains. A snowmobile allows for either an exhilarating ride up and down magnificent peaks or a relaxing tour through the forest and along historic trails.

Day 5 Whitehorse

On this fun kicksledding tour, guests are guided through scenic wilderness routes in some of the most beautiful landscapes of Yukon’s winter wonderland. Learn the basics of kicksledding while travelling gentle elevations on forest trails and frozen lakes. The kicksled’s snow and ice runners allow rides over snow drifts, across frozen lakes, and even through fresh powder. The kicksled is simple to master, propelled by pushing off the ground with one foot, similar to a scooter.

Our Independent Holiday Packages are NOT group tours with set departure dates. Group Tours have specific set departure dates, and of course, you are travelling with unknown passengers in a coach. At Entire Travel Group, our focus is Independent Holiday Packages. Available daily, they are pre-designed, purpose built, packaged itineraries full of memorable experiences delivered by our hand-picked local partners.

Our holidays suit every demographic, from couples to singles, to retirees to families and everyone else in between.

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

  • Travel on a specific airline of their choice
  • Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
  • Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
  • Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
  • Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
