Day 1 Airport Negombo

Arrival in Sri Lanka / Meet & Greet at the airport where you will meet your private guide. You will then proceed to Negombo in your private car (approximately 30 minutes travel time).

Explore the charm of Negombo with an afternoon visit to its fishing village and historical Dutch buildings. Negombo, a renowned fishing village on Sri Lanka's west coast, boasts picturesque landscapes, vibrant fish markets, and cultural richness. The village is nestled along a large lagoon interconnected with canals, offering a unique setting. Fishing is the main livelihood, providing a glimpse into traditional activities like colorful boats and net casting. Immerse yourself in Negombo's cultural heritage, featuring old Dutch buildings.

Spend the rest of the day at your own leisure.

Day 2 Negombo Habarana

Enjoy breakfast at the resort.

Today, you will travel for approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes and head to Habarana. Spend the afternoon at your own leisure.

Day 3 Habarana Minneriya Habarana

Enjoy breakfast at the resort.

You will proceed to Minneriya. Take a jeep safari at Minneriya national park which covers 8,890 hectares and consists of a mixed forest of evergreen shrubs, a favourite habitat for animals, which include leopards, deer and wild elephants. During the dry season from June to September, this is a fantastic place to watch herds of elephants come to graze and bathe. You can also see huge flocks of birds, including cormorants and painted storks that come to fish in the shallow waters.

Return to the resort and spend the evening at leisure.

Minneriya National Park

Day 4 Habarana Hiriwadunna Habarana

Enjoy breakfast at the resort.

Enjoy a Village tour with village lunch & boat ride experience which takes approximately 3 hours.

Trek through this archetypal Sri Lankan village. The trek begins with a scenic walk along a bund of a Wewa (manmade reservoir). The amazing birdlife, butterflies and possible sightings of crocodile only add to the charm of the trek. Sight the villagers as they go about their early morning tasks of fishing or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake. Initially one wades through a shallow stream and thereafter crosses a wider tributary in a catamaran of an obliging farmer to inspect Chena cultivation (slash and burn agriculture) Enjoy the farmer's humble hospitality. With the guidance of the farmer, pick some fresh vegetables from the plot.

Return to the resort and spend the evening at leisure.

Today, you'll head to Yala (approximately 6 hours travel time). Spend the day at your own leisure.

Today, you'll take a Morning Jeep Safari at Yala National Park with packed breakfast.

Yala’s arid boulder-scattered parklands are dramatically different from the lush jungles and paddy fields that cover so much of the island. Spanning 100,000 hectares of dry thorny scrub and dusty glades, you could easily be in an African bushveldt, right down to the long-thorn bushes. This background was so suited to viewing elephants, leopards, wild boar, spotted deer, crocodiles and jackals that the entrepreneurial South African Englebrecht, who was shipped over as a POW after the Boer War, rightfully instigated it as a sanctuary – Sri Lanka’s first – at the turn of the twentieth century. It’s now the oldest and most prominent of them all.

Day 7 Yala Mirissa

Enjoy breakfast at the resort.

You'll then proceed to Mirissa, which is approximately 2 hours. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 8 Mirissa

Enjoy a comprehensive Whale Watching Tour with Sail Lanka from 6:30 am to 1:30 pm, spanning approximately 7 hours. The tour includes welcome drinks, breakfast, lunch, whale and dolphin watching, swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, and tea/coffee.

Return to the hotel afterward for relaxation. Later in the evening, explore Coconut Hill Spot and Parrot Rock Bridge. Finally, return to the hotel to spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Mirissa stands out as a premier whale watching destination in Sri Lanka, offering sightings of blue whales, sperm whales, humpback whales, and dolphins in the waters off its coast. Tours typically operate from Mirissa Harbor, mainly from November to April.

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

Travel on a specific airline of their choice
Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia.
