Accommodation

Lazy Bear Lodge

Churchill
At Lazy Bear Lodge, the thrill of the arctic doesn't end when you return to the Lodge. That's because the Lodge itself is an authentic northern wonder! This is no regular log cabin. The timber was reclaimed from a fire in the boreal forest. Using hand tools, the logs fit together so well as to appear as if they were melted into each other. The windows were recycled from an 1800's Hudson Bay Trading Post, and if you look closely, you'll see the characteristic wave of the old glass.Come inside and feel the warmth of the massive stone fireplace, crafted from a 20,000 pound block of stone and mortar

Optional Extras

Kayaking with Beluga Whales

This experience is suitable for beginners and first-time kayakers. Conducted at low tide, the focus is on spending time alongside the beluga whales in their natural habitat. These gentle creatures are often curious and may swim alongside your kayak.

The expedition lasts around three hours and is recommended for participants aged 10 and over, with exceptions considered individually. All necessary equipment is provided, including wetsuits, life jackets, and neoprene boots. It’s best to wear close-fitting clothing underneath the wetsuit, such as swimwear or thermal layers.

This is an optional activity and is subject to weather conditions.

Beluga AquaGliding™

This adventure immerses you in the natural world of thousands of beluga whales, putting you right where the action is! Gliding on a floating mat offers a unique chance for curious and friendly whales to approach, creating an unforgettable close-up encounter.

During Beluga AquaGliding™, your mat is tethered to a zodiac on the Churchill River or Hudson Bay, allowing you to lie flat and watch the belugas come close — perfect for photos and an intimate wildlife experience.

This approximately three-hour expedition, including transfers, provides all essential equipment such as wetsuits, neoprene boots, gloves, and lifejackets. It’s best to wear close-fitting clothing underneath, such as swimwear or thermal layers.

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

  • Travel on a specific airline of their choice
  • Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
  • Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
  • Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
  • Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
