Overview

Finesse is a double-decker hotel barge that was built to exacting standards with luxury in mind, enhanced by her modern public areas and very spacious cabin suite accommodation.

The well-designed public areas include a saloon with contemporary furnishings and panoramic windows where the emphasis is on making the most of the natural light. There is also a demonstration galley where guests can watch their chef preparing delicious gourmet meals. Outside, guests can relax on the large sun deck with its alfresco dining area, comfortable seating and spa pool.

The four en-suite cabins, which can be in twin or double-bedded configuration, are very spacious (approx. 265sq ft including en suite), each one air-conditioned and with a beautifully appointed shower room.

Day 1 Dijon St-Julien-sur-Dheune

You are met in Dijon and transferred by air-conditioned minibus to Finesse for a champagne welcome and the opportunity to meet the crew. Then there is time to wander along the towpath and admire the classic Burgundy scenery before dinner on board.

Day 2 St-Julien-sur-Dheune

This morning, begin your voyage through Southern Burgundy along the Canal du Centre through undulating countryside to moor at the little village of St-Leger-sur-Dheune. Descend a series of 11 locks while cruising past the villages along the way. After lunch on board, visit the 14^th century Château de Germolles, the best preserved of the residences of the Dukes of Burgundy, with its ducal chapel, medieval wall paintings and romantic gardens Dinner on board.

Day 3 St-Léger-sur-Dheune Remigny

This morning, we visit Clos de Vougeot, headquarters of the esteemed Chevaliers du Taste vin (translates as "Fraternity of Knights of the Wine-Tasting Cup"), who award aspecial prized label to the finest Côte d‘Or vintages every year. Continue along the Routes des Grands Cru through the Côte de Nuits,before returning to Finesse for lunch followed by an afternoon cruise with perfect opportunities to walk or cycle along the towpath en route,to our mooring near the village of Rully. Dinner on board.

Day 4 Remigny Rully

After breakfast, set off on a drive through the Côte de Beaune vineyards to the town of Beaune itself, capital of Burgundy wine country where you will visit the fascinating 15th century Hôtel-Dieu Hospice and explore the quaint shops of the town, before enjoying a gastronomic lunch in the heart of Puligny & Chassagne Montrachet vineyards at the restaurant Le Montrachet. After lunch, return to the barge for an afternoon cruise past the charming little town of Chagny, to our mooring near the village of Rully. Dinner on board.

Day 5 Rully Fragnes

This morning, continue your cruise along the Canal du Centre at a leisurely pace to moor at the village of Fragnes. There are perfect opportunities to walk or cycle along the towpath en route. In the afternoon you will be escorted on a winery tour and private tasting to the delightful 17^th century Château de Chamirey in Mercurey, owned by the Devillard family for five generations. Dinner on board.

Day 6 Fragnes St-Jean-de-Losne

This morning, the barge leaves the winding canal to join the peaceful River Saône, passing delightful little ports such as Seurre and Verdun-sur-le-Doubs en route, to arrive at St-Jean-de-Losne. After lunch on board, we visit Clos de Vougeot***, headquarters of the esteemed Chevaliers du Tastevin (translates as “Fraternity of Knights of the Wine-Tasting Cup”), who award a special prized label to the finest Côte d‘Or vintages every year. You will have the opportunity to pay homage at the fields of Romanée Conti before returning to Finesse. Farewell Dinner on Board.

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

Travel on a specific airline of their choice
Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
