Day 1 Depart Paris

Board the legendary Wagons-Lits carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in Paris. Settle into your comfortable private cabin before enjoying a sumptuous dinner in one of the magnificent dining cars.

Later, head to Bar Car ‘3674’ and listen to the resident pianist play the baby grand. Celebrate with your fellow passengers over cocktails before you retire for the night


Day 2 Afternoon arrival in Vienna

Your steward serves French breakfast in your cabin as you gaze at the beautiful scenery through your window. The Alpine peaks, undulating meadows and crystal-clear lakes continue as you relax over a leisurely three-course lunch.

This afternoon, arrive in Vienna ready for two nights under your own arrangement, exploring the city at your leisure.

Day 3 Exploring Vienna

Today brings a full day of discovering Vienna. Tonight, enjoy a second night's stay at your selected hotel through your own arrangements.

Day 4 Back on board

Return to Vienna Main Station and board the train. Settle into your cabin and admire the stunning scenery as the train travels through the Austrian and Swiss Alps. Your steward will serve tea, coffee and mouth-watering pastries in your cabin.

Mingle with fellow passengers over an aperitif in the convivial Bar Car ‘3674’ before sitting down to a lavish dinner in one of the dining cars. Return to the bar to sip a nightcap as the pianist plays.


Day 5 A fond farewell

French breakfast is served in your cabin shortly before the train arrives at Paris Gare de l’Est Station. Disembark for your onward travel arrangements.

Banquette seating offers the perfect vantage point to watch the landscape by day, while convertible sleeping berths — with soft, luxurious bedding — transform the cabin into an intimate retreat by night. Morning breakfast can even be served to your bed, should you desire.

•    You can never be overdressed on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. 
For dinner, we ask for formal evening attire and many guests like to don black tie and wear their most glamorous finery for the occasion. Smart daywear is appropriate during the day. At lunch, for example, a jacket/tie or equivalent is suitable. Jeans are not acceptable at any time.

•    If a detailed request is made at the time of booking, special dietary needs such as vegetarian or vegan can be accommodated. If a special request has not been made, the chefs will endeavour to prepare a dish with the ingredients available on board. We do, however, regret that we are unable to provide meals requiring strict religious observance in the preparation.

•    Estimated outbound/return departure times – subject to national and international railways constraints and timings are purely indicative: 

Departing Paris: 16:30 – arrival in Vienna: 15:00
Returning Vienna: 15:00 - arrival in Paris: 08:30

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

  • Travel on a specific airline of their choice
  • Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
  • Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
  • Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
  • Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
